About City
Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland and it is located in central eastern Scotland, near the Firth of Forth, close to the North Sea, it is Scotland’s second most populous city and the seventh most populous in the United Kingdom. Edinburgh is a city of literature – it was the first city to be called the UNESCO city of Literature and home to national institutions such as the National Museum of Scotland, the National Library of Scotland and the Scottish National Gallery. Historic sites in Edinburgh include Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, the churches of St. Giles, Greyfriars and the Canongate, and the extensive Georgian New Town, built in the 18th century. Edinburgh is a beautiful city filled with stunning geology. Its diverse landscape is worth seeing, as it transforms from the volcanic Pentland Hills in the south, to the seaside resort of Portobello in the East.
